Little Athletics encourages children aged from 3 to 17, regardless of ability, to strive to achieve their best in the full range of athletic events. At Golden Grove Little Athletics Centre the emphasis is on Family, Fun and Fitness (Little Athletics Motto), and to be Your Best. The aims of little athletics are
- To promote the fitness of children in a fun family environment
- To develop the basic athletic skills of children
- To encourage children to improve and achieve higher levels of skill and performance
- To develop in children a healthy attitude towards competition
Little Athletics teaches more than sports skills, with discipline, respect and teamwork being all part of the training. Studies show that children who have participated in Little Athletics have better coordination, flexibility and mobility.
To find out your Age Group go to the SALAA website.

Little Athletics is a family sport and cannot operate without Parent involvement. A parent or guardian must remain at the Centre whilst their child is participating in the activities. During the meets, our Centre requires chaperones for each age group to supervise athletes, officials to conduct the events and helpers to carry out tasks, such as, measuring and raking jumping pits. These are simple tasks that can be done by almost everyone. Children love to see their parents helping out and being involved.
Volunteers are essential for the Centre to operate as there are many jobs that must be done each meet. It is expected that each family will do their bit to help out with either the set-up or pack-up of equipment, Canteen or BBQ. We believe that each family should not need to volunteer for more than two hours throughout all home meets as long as every family does their bit.
GGLAC and SALAA have a number of policies that we ask you familiarise yourself with.
