Golden Grove Little Athletics Centre is committed to providing high quality athletic training opportunities for its members. GGLAC seeks to ensure that all coaches are appropriately trained and accredited under the Athletics Australia Coach Accreditation Framework (see http://athletics.com.au/1cac for further information).
GGLAC coaches and coaching assistants are required to complete the level 0 officials course and undertake ‘Play By The Rules’ online training at https://elearning.sportintegrity.gov.au/login/index.php. Play By The Rules is a partnership between the Australian Sports Commission and all state sport and recreation agencies. It involves ensuring that coaches provide an inclusive, safe and fair environment for participation.
As with all services, coaches and training co-ordinators are a rare commodity and are highly valued by host clubs and centres. GGLAC invites suitably experienced or qualified people to express their interest in coaching and developing the skills of our athletes.
We also provide financial support to those willing to undertake coaching qualifications or to increase their current qualification level. If you are interested in coaching at the centre, please speak to our coaches’ coordinator or a committee member. Further information about coaching and available training is on the SALAA website (www.salaa.org.au).
All interested applicants are asked to put in a formal request for financial assistance via email to the GGLAC committee (ggr@salaa.org.au). Applications are reviewed on an individual basis, however a minimum commitment from the applicant to attend training sessions and at least 50% of home meets is required for the application to be considered.
At the end of each athletics season coaches are eligible to apply for the reimbursement of their annual coaches accreditation fee. This can be done by emailing the committee (ggr@salaa.org.au) and outlining the request. For the request to be successful coaches must have shown a reasonable level of commitment to the centre throughout the season. This includes attendance at training sessions and weekly meets.
All coaches over the age of 14 years are required to have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC, formerly known as a DCSI check) To start an application, simply visit https://screening.sa.gov.au/applications/application-information-for-individuals and click the ‘apply for a check’ button. Here you will be asked to fill in your personal details. For your role description, please clearly state your role at your Little Athletics Club and the name of the club. On the ‘screening required’ part of the form, you will need to select ‘Working With Children Check’ and in the ‘applicant type’ drop down, you need to select ‘volunteer’.
Once your WWCC application has been submitted, and you are advised of your screening outcome, please email the following details to the club secretary
1. Full Name (first, middle & last)
2. Date of Birth
3. WWCC Unique ID (SRN xxxx-xxxx) & issue date
